“Securing our food supply chains” webinar series

Collaboration and networking among different projects is key to enable cross-fertilisation and exchange of good practices. This is why ALLIANCE has been clustering with other projects with similar objectives, beginning with Theros and Watson earlier this year. Later on, the cluster expanded to include three more projects: FishEUtrust, SEAtoSEE, and CUES.

To facilitate mutual learning, the cluster convened a series of two webinars, titled “Securing our food supply chains: EU's innovative initiatives to combat food fraud, improve food traceability and sustainability, and increase consumers’ trust”. The objective of these meetings was to create an occasion for the participating projects to learn more about each other, and to identify potential synergies in the work ahead.

Over forty representatives from the participating projects and the European Commission attended the two webinar sessions. The first one, held on Wednesday 11 September 2024, featured an introductory roundtable followed by presentations from projects FishEUtrust, SEAtoSEE, and Watson. On Friday 13 September, the second of the two sessions was opened by a presentation on Food 2030  by Daniela Lueth, Policy Officer, European Commission. Then, participants listened to presentations from ALLIANCE (delivered by project coordinator Stavroula Maglavera), Theros, and CUES. Last but not least, the recently started TealHelix project was also invited to present its concept alongside the other more established projects.

In the final Q&A session, a number of common points among the projects were highlighted. All of the projects participating in the cluster remain committed to further exploring these synergies in future joint actions to be scheduled over the coming months.
