Food Frauds are becoming a trending topic since their dangers are becoming well-known all over the world. Still, it is difficult for the public to understand what they are in practice, so giving examples of what happened in history is the best way to warn people. Nevertheless, we learnt a lot from previous crises, and the tools to cope with food frauds are improving, like the ones developed by the Horizon Europe Project ALLIANCE.

ALLIANCE will employ a holistic framework and various technologies to enhance food traceability, authenticity, and safety. By addressing the limitations and challenges, ALLIANCE aims to reduce food fraud, increase consumer trust, and support informed decision-making by the industry and policy-makers.

The Alliance project aims to provide a comprehensive framework to improve traceability and reinforce interoperability in the Food Supply Chain (FSC) for quality-labeled foods through the use of blockchain technology in order to encourage evidence-based decision-making for the involved stakeholder.

Food Supply Chains, the series of processes that take food from the producers to our houses, are getting longer and more complicated. Still, people are not aware of their importance nor how to improve them to help producers and consumers. So, some organisations promote technology solutions to enhance this crucial service.

Food Fraud is a serious issue that keeps increasing due to multiple factors. The Horizon Europe Project ALLIANCE aims to tackle this issue by improving modern technologies that are already partially used or misused in Food Supply Chains. The project members released their first technical project deliverable that can be considered the foundation of the ALLIANCE platform.
