FOODGUARD aims to develop a framework of toolsets and methodologies to provide sustainable solutions in food processing, packaging, and across the food value chain to address food shelf-life increase and waste reduction in a holistic manner across four pilots: Vegetables, Meat, Fish and Feta Cheese. Alongiside creating accurate predictions of food shelf life, monitoring food safety, and increasing shelf life, the project will also aim to improve real-time traceability in Food Supply Chains thriough IoT, Cloud technologies, Blockchain, QR, NFR.

Relevance to ALLIANCE

ALLIANCE and FoodGuard employ similar tools, albeit with slightly different objectives. ALLIANCE's focus is on transparency and traceability of quality-labelled products, whereas FoodGuard looks at safety and sustainability aspects such as extending shelf life and reducing food waste.
