Import from Ecuador & Peru
This demonstator aims to provide transparency on the origin of the raw tuna used by the canning company in Ecuador, and assuring quality to the European distributor, who will use the traceability options to secure final clients. It would also support the Certification process of both the supplier and the distribution companies. This would address current traceability challenges, mainly confirming the species and its origin, increase trasparency to the client, ensure stability of suppliers and raw material, and promote sustainable fishing practices.
Relevance to ALLIANCEALLIANCE shares with this pilot the objective of enhancing transparency and traceability across entire food supply chains. The two however differ as ALLIANCE focuses on quality-labelled foods (organic and PDO/PGI) and does not cover any type of seafood. Furthermore, traceability of imported foods is not part of any of the ALLIANCE demonstrators.
