ALLIANCE demonstrator workshops
Over the course of 2025, a series of workshops has been held to share results from each of the seven ALLIANCE pilot demonstrators with local stakeholders, presenting them the opportunities offered by the technological solutions developed as part of the project.
Presenting the NIR spectroscopy tool for Faba Asturiana traceability (Faba demonstrator workshops)
Demonstrator leader ASINCAR and the Regulatory Council for IGP Faba Asturiana (IGPFA) jointly organised the first demonstrator workshop on 2 April 2025 to present the preliminary results of the digital tool based on Near Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy that ensures the quality and traceability of Asturian faba beans. The purpose of this workshop was to gather the opinions of members of the Asturian faba bean value chain (producers, packers, etc.) and control agents regarding the future implementation of digital technologies. A second workshop, which involved also control bodies and shared final project results, took place on the 21st of October 2025.
ALLIANCE: An innovative tool for fraud prevention in the organic pasta supply chain (Pasta demonstration workshop)
On 3 April 2025, the workshop “ALLIANCE: An innovative tool for fraud prevention in the organic pasta supply chain” was held at the Alce Nero headquarters in Castel San Pietro (BO), presenting the results of the pilot demonstrator on rapid pesticide detection in organic pasta to stakeholders working in the pasta supply chain. The workshop was jointly organised by the Italian partners of the ALLIANCE project: organic farming and processing company Alce Nero SpA, organing consulting FederBio Servizi srl, University of Bologna - Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences) and the Italian Confederation of Farmers of Umbria (CIA-Umbria), and it was part of a series of workshops aimed at presenting the pilot developments to the relevant communities of stakeholders.
Innovative approaches to quality assurance and food safety in the Feta PDO supply chain (Feta cheese demonstrator workshop)

The workshop to present the results of the Feta cheese demonstrator was co-organised in April 2025 by the University of Thessaly School of Agricultural Sciences - coordinator of the project - in partnership with the Hellenic Association for ICT in Agriculture, Food & Environment, and it involved representatives from pilot leader and dairy producer Olympos - Hellenic Dairies, as well as from technology provider Netcompany (formerly Netcompany-Intrasoft), as well as speakers from the AgrEconLab and NITLAB laboratories of the University of Thessaly. The event was addressed to researchers, professionals in the agri-food sector, students, and anyone interested in food innovation.
From field to table for safety & traceability of European quality agrifood products: PDO Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Umbria (Olive oil demonstrator workshop)
A workshop to present the preliminary results of the Extra Virgin Olive Oil pilot was held on Friday 6th June 2025 by the Umbrian branch of the Italian Confederation of Farmers (CIA-Umbria) in Perugia. The hybrid event brought together experts and stakeholders of the PDO extra-virgin oil supply chain and was moderated by Massimo Canalicchio and Letizia Casciari, with the participation of Stelios Arhondakis of Biocos, responsible for the development of the rapid DNA tool. The event presented technological solutions (use of digital DNA analysis and blockchain for traceability of quality products) and also covered good practices and conservation of local olive varieties.
Building Trust in the Lika Potato Supply Chain: Blockchain for Transparency and Fraud Prevention (Lika potato demonstrator workshop)
The workshop on the Lika Potato demonstrator took place on 6 June 2025 at the Lika-Senj County Development Centre in Gospić. The event was organised by the Association of Lika Potato Producers, in collaboration with Biotechnicon Ltd. and the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb, all involved in the pilot demonstrator activities.
The workshop gathered producers of Lika potatoes, representatives of advisory services, local authorities and other interested stakeholders with the aim of exchanging knowledge and information on certification, legal frameworks and technological tools that can help protect the valuable PGI Lika potatoes brand.
Enhancing transparency and trust in the organic honey value chain (Honey demonstrator workshops)
The ALLIANCE honey demonstrator, led by the Centre International de Hautes Etudes Agronomiques Mediterraneennes - Montpellier (CIHEAMM) in close collaboration with the World Bee Project, organised two workshops to present the traceability system, collect expert feedback, and explore possibilities for replicating the approach to other organic agri-food chains. The first workshop took place on 31st of July 2025 and reached a group of 24 key stakeholders based in the Occitanie region of France. The workshop was repeated on the 4th of September, this time in English, and involved a small group of UK-based experts and valorisation board members.
Arilje Raspberry demonstrator workshop
The final demonstrator workshop within the Arilje raspberry demonstrator was held in Arilje on September 24, 2025. A total of 10 participants attended the workshop, including representatives of local authorities and of businesses (cold storage companies) in the raspberry value chain that will be using the tools developed as part of ALLIANCE (database, blockchain and EWDSS system).
Presentations by project partners (MENA and FINS) focused on the opportunities and practical implementation of Blockchain technology as well as on reporting results of sensor testing activities.
